So last Friday I told everyone that I’m pregnant again.
Here are answers to a few FAQ’s I’ve gotten on & off the blog:
How are you feeling? Fantastic, actually. I had about a month and half when everyday living was difficult, but I’m very lucky that I never actually got physically sick (you follow me?) and that it only lasted for a brief period of time. (though it certainly didn’t feel that way!)
Right now my biggest concern is getting enough small meals throughout the day, to avoid dizzy spells and the headaches that follow. Otherwise, I feel totally like myself again.
Are you excited about having a girl? Yes! I love having a girl now, and am super excited about adding another one to the family. I always wanted a sister growing up, so I’m thrilled for her to have that experience.
Is your daughter excited? Yes! She’s still trying to wrap her mind around the whole idea. I think she’ll be way more excited when she sees the actual baby. Right now she tells everyone about the baby sister in mama’s belly, but doesn’t really get it. She has made big strides in the past six months toward being helpful and doing chores without resistance, so I’m looking forward to having a helper. Which leads us to the the next question…
How old will your daughter be when the baby is born? 5, her birthday is in the beginning of June.
Wow, that’s a big gap! I know this isn’t really a question, but when I talk about being pregnant, I almost always end up talking about the age gap. I won’t get into the nitty gritty details of why we waited (had a lot to do with trying to move from a condo into our new home), but I’m not really worried about the gap. I think five year old girls love babies, and my daughter will be delighted to have a younger sister.
That being said, I think it will be a little crazy to transition from a nearly self-sufficient kid to changing diapers again. I mean, this fall I’ll have a kindergartener and a three month old! Talk about a change around here! But, it’ll be fun to have a baby around again, and I know she’ll be the perfect addition.
And I’m sure this new little one will lead to dozens of new DIY projects! Can’t wait!
