baklava pull-apart bread
Nothing says Mother’s Day like a loaf of homemade bread, am I right? Technically, this bread is only half-homemade, but we’ll get to that in a minute. It is ALL delicious.
Baklava lends perfectly to this style of baking. The filling holds its own, and has the perfect combination of nuts. Pistachio, walnuts, pecans, and a dash of almonds. All ground up.
Would you believe me if I said you could whip it up in no time flat? Just add a card, and you’re good to go.
INGREDIENTS TO MAKE THIS BAKLAVA BREAD RECIPE:
- 2 tubes, refrigerated pizza dough (regular, not thin crust)
- 2 cups sugar
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- ½ cup pistachios
- ¼ cup walnuts
- ¼ cup pecans
- ¼ cup almonds
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- honey, to drizzle on top
HOW TO MAKE THIS EASY BAKLAVA BREAD RECIPE:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Line a bread pan with parchment paper, grease up any exposed areas with butter.
- Grind up all four nuts in a food processor until the largest pieces are pebble-sized.
- Add nuts, sugar, cinnamon, salt, vanilla, and butter into a medium bowl, mix together.
- Unroll pizza dough onto wooden or plastic cutting board, smoothing the seam to connect the two pieces. (you can also do one sheet at a time, if it’s easier)
- Spread mixture evenly onto dough.
- Using a pizza cutter, cut dough into squares about the size of your bread pan. (approx. 4″ x 3″, just eyeball it)
- Stack squares on top of one another, then add the stacks to the bread pan.
- Make sure bread pan is full on all four sides, so bread cooks evenly. Also, place dough sides on the ends of the loaf, not the filling. See photo above.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until brown on top.
- Allow to cool, remove from pan, and drizzle with honey.
This recipe is as easy as Mix. Fill. Cut. Bake. but gets even easier with these handy tools:
- bread pan – the best nonstick!
- food processor – 4 appliances in one!
If you are like me and wondered “How to make chocolate baklava bread?” (because everything must be chocolate) Just add some nutella spread before you put down the nut mixture.
Mom will love it, guaranteed. I mean, who doesn’t love baklava?! There are so many versions of pull-apart bread these days…. cinnamon roll, red velvet, pizza.
The slices do not have to be perfect. In fact, everything about this dessert is casual.
Messier, ooey, gooey is best.
