baked spicy crackers
You’ll love this spicy snack that’s perfect for parties, dips, or anytime.
We all know that the food makes the party, right? Well what better way to serve up dips, cheeseballs, and crockpot dishes than with seasoned crackers?!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE THESE SEASONED CRACKERS:
- ¼ cup pure maple syrup
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha
- 2 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cups multi grain crackers, Ritz or Saltine crackers also work
- 6 thyme sprigs or 1 Tablespoon dried thyme
HOW TO MAKE THESE SEASONED CRACKERS:
- Preheat oven to 275 degrees.
- In a small saucepan, combine syrup, sriracha, and butter; bring to a boil and stir until combined. Toss with crackers and thyme. Try to minimize breaking crackers by stirring gently with a spatula.
- Spread in a single layer onto a parchment-lined rimmed baking sheet and bake until coating is set, about 45 minutes.
- Let cool completely before serving.
- The crackers can be stored for up to a week in an airtight container.
These are an easy, sweet & spicy way to kick your appetizers up a notch. They also go down easy paired with an adult beverage, just sayin’.
Pick a robust cracker that won’t break under pressure and, preferably an unseasoned one, to not compete with the glaze. I highly recommend using whole grain or multigrain varieties. They add so much to the texture & flavor.
Spicy seasoned saltine crackers go great with a tomato soup!
Fresh thyme doesn’t hurt either. Just gorgeous. When was the last time you called a cracker gorgeous?
handy tools to use when making these crackers:
- silicone spatula – nonstick, heat resistant, flexible for curved surfaces
- baking sheet – best non-stick
Perfect for book clubs, midnight snacking, or superbowl appetizers. Crunchy, sweet, spicy… YUM.
frequently asked questions
Can you put crackers in the oven?
Yes. Especially if they are getting soft. Just pop them in the oven for a few minutes and they will be nice and crispy again.
What are comeback crackers?
Comeback crackers are named that because they make you keep coming back for more. They are basically saltines mixed with olive oil and seasonings, then just stirred frequently for a bit.
