A yummy gluten-free brownie starts with Bob’s Red Mill Gluten Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour. It’s my go-to for the perfect gluten-free brownie treat.
To start, mix the dry ingredients and wet ingredients separately, then blend until smooth. As you can see, making brownies from scratch takes a lot of cocoa powder and chocolate chips. Go for premium quality; it’ll work well with the Bob’s, and make a noticeable difference in the taste of the brownies.
Next, bake until solid, or use the toothpick test: poke the brownies in the center, and when the toothpick comes out mostly clean (with a couple of crumbs attached), they’re good to go.
Allow to cool, and then dig in! I love to top with caramel and even more chocolate.
Useful tools to have handy when making Bob’s brownie mix:
- glass nesting bowls – choose the size you need, easy to clean, microwave safe
- 8×8 pan – best nonstick pan around!

Can you substitute plain flour with gluten free?
Yes! Substitute all-purpose gluten-free flour in place of all-purpose regular flour at a ratio of 1:1. If you are baking items such as cakes and/or breads, add 1 teaspoon of xanthan gum.
What is in Bob’s red mill gluten free flour?
It is made with sweet white rice flour, whole grain brown rice flour, potato starch, whole grain sweet white sorghum flour, tapioca flour, xanthan gum.
Is gluten free flour the same as plain flour?
It is not the same. Gluten, coming from the wheat that is in plain flour, is what gives baked goods their structure and soft, sponge like texture. Using just gluten free flour in place of plain flour will leave your baked goods flat. You must add a gluten substitute with your gluten free flour.
I mean, just look at that chocolaty goodness! Rich, fudgy, gooey… all the right notes for a game-changing brownie. Drizzle them with caramel sauce, plus add sea salt and chocolate chips to take them right over the top.
