Sausage French Toast Bake
My kids are at just the right age for celebrating the holidays. I have a 3 -year-old and an 8-year-old, and I can already tell this will be the best holiday season yet. They’re old enough to understand the holiday traditions, and still young enough to believe in the magic of it all. I want to make the most of this holiday season, and enjoy all the festivities together.
That’s why I love meals like this overnight sausage and French toast bake. I’m able to make it the day or night before, and pop in the oven for a fresh, warm brunch dish. When you’re a parent of littles, it makes so much more sense to pick easy recipes that can be quickly prepped whenever you have the time. That way, I’m able to bake home-cooked meals with less stress. Whether that’s the big meal on Christmas Day, or any other meals throughout the week!
This dish may be simple, but it does not compromise on taste! I used pre-cooked sausage. I love how you can heat it up in seconds and it’s ready to go. It’s a shortcut that I truly appreciate during the holiday season.
I love how the sausage is good-to-go for this breakfast bake. Just chop into pieces and add to the pan. It heats up with the rest of the bake. You’ll also need the typical French toast ingredients for this dish.

frequently asked questions
Why is my french toast soggy in the middle?
Adding too much dairy and sugar to the custard. If there’s too much, the egg in the mixture won’t cook, meaning wet, soggy, bread.
Can you keep french toast warm in the oven?
If you need to keep the French Toast warm until you’ve cooked enough to feed everyone, preheat your oven to 200 degrees Fahrenheit. Cover a baking sheet (preferably rimmed) with parchment paper.
What goes with french toast for brunch?
It is best just to add some fruit and a breakfast meat like bacon or sausage (if you didn’t add it to the casserole).
