Chocolate Cold Brew Coffee
I remember when I first tried cold brew last summer, it was the perfect chilly drink for the hot afternoon. Iced cold brew coffee, topped off with coconut milk. YUM.
This version is all about the chocolate. And it couldn’t be easier to make, with chocolate simple syrup and all the fixin’s!
INGREDIENTS
iced coffee
- 16 oz cold brew coffee (for best results, brew coffee the night before and chill in fridge)
- 2 teaspoons homemade chocolate simple syrup (or more to taste)
- 2 tablespoon chocolate sauce/syrup (such as Hershey’s), divided
- 1 cup ice
- Creamer, as desired
- whipped topping, couple dollops
- ½ cup chocolate chips, divided
for homemade chocolate simple syrup
- ½ cup Cocoa powder, unsweetened
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup Water
- 1 cup sugar
INSTRUCTIONS
For Homemade Chocolate Simple Syrup:
- Add sugar, water, and cocoa powder to a small pan.
- Cook over medium heat, whisking until mixture reaches a boil.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Allow to cool. Store in fridge for up to 2 weeks.
For Chocolate Iced Coffee:
- Stir homemade chocolate simple syrup into coffee.
- Drizzle (Hershey’s) chocolate syrup/sauce around inside of 2 glasses (see photo).
- Add plenty of ice to glasses.
- Pour coffee to fill glasses.
- Add creamer to taste.
- Top with additional chocolate sauce, whipped cream, and chocolate chips, as desired.
I love to brew up coffee while I’m meal prepping for the week. I let it cool and pop it in the fridge to chill. That way I have fresh, ice-cold brew coffee at home, whenever I want!
