Crisp green apple slices are layered with crunchy granola, drizzled with rich caramel sauce and chocolate syrup, creating a delightful combination of flavors and textures. This snack is not only a tasty way to satisfy sweet cravings, but it also offers a touch of nutrition, making it a win-win for kids and parents alike!
As parents, we’re always on the hunt for new snack ideas!
The ideal after school snack is:
- Easy to make. Even the kids can prep apple nachos. Esp if you cut the apple slices first.
- Contains fiber, protein, or both. Apples and granola are packed with wholesome ingredients.
- A little bit of fun. Just a drizzle of caramel and chocolate syrups makes these sliced apples into NACHOS.
Other after school snacks that have been big hits with our kiddos include S’mores Snack Balls, Kool-Aid Popcorn, and Goldfish Cracker Snacks.

Variations
There are so many ways to switch up this delightful dish! Here are some of the toppings that are super yummy with apples:
- “S’mores” variety: add mini marshmallows or marshmallow fluff plus crushed graham crackers
- dollop of whipped cream or ice cream in the center
- sprinkle of nuts or chocolate chips
You could even do a Caramel Apple Nachos Bar and let everyone pick their favorite toppings!
Equipment
Our favorite (cheap!) and sharp knives that you can throw in the dishwasher.
FAQ
Since the apples can get mushy from the toppings, we recommend enjoying this dish right after you make it. If you are prepping for a party, sprinkle about a teaspoon of lemon juice on the apples before adding the regular toppings, so the apples don’t turn brown.
Once you cut the apple, it must be eaten or refrigerated (for up to 2 days). If you sprinkle the apple slices with a teaspoon of lemon juice, you will delay the browning (oxidation) of the apple slices.
