Chicken Tenders with Sweet and Spicy Sauce
These chicken tenders are a hit with my family! We can easily leave the sauce on the side for the kids to dip, or slather it on thick for those who prefer! The sauce really elevates the frozen chicken tenders and makes them taste like your favorite restaurant!
Taking pre-made things – like frozen, breaded chicken tenders – and adding to it to make it seem homemade is my favorite kitchen hack! Really it takes no time at all to whip together a 4 ingredient sauce and your frozen food will go from boring to a shining star!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE SWEET AND SPICY CHICKEN TENDERS:
- 1 pack, frozen chicken tenders (rec Tyson brand)
- ½ cup ketchup
- ½ cup honey
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- Optional, for serving: chopped veggies or store-bought (or homemade) cole slaw
HOW TO MAKE SWEET AND SPICY CHICKEN TENDERS:
- Heat up chicken tenders according to package instructions.
- Once chicken tenders come out of oven, give them 5 minutes to rest.
- Meanwhile, whisk up ingredients for sauce.
- Toss tenders in sauce.
- Serve with cut-up veggies or coleslaw on the side.
While your tenders are baking in the oven (or air fryer, if you prefer) you can whisk up the sauce ingredients. The flavors will meld together a bit better if you make the sauce ahead, and you can even keep it in the fridge if you want to make it a day or two in advance.
handy tools to easily make sweet and spicy chicken tenders:
- sheet pan – best non-stick
- silicone whisk – stir, whisk and scrape sides all at once.
FAQs
Can you air fry Tyson chicken tenders? Yes! Air frying makes them so crispy and shortens the cooking time compared to the oven. Cook at 400 for 10 minutes.
Are frozen chicken tenders already cooked? Usually frozen chicken products are raw, but par-frying (to make the coating stick and crispy) makes them look cooked.
What do you eat with nuggets? Any breaded chicken can be served with fries, sweet potato fries, tots, chips or even a salad!
