Perfect combo of chewy and crunch! Easy Air Fryer Pretzels made with store-bought pizza dough! Just minutes for tasty pretzels you can make for a crowd.
My family has been having so much fun lately making copies of our favorite restaurant or shop foods. We love getting soft pretzels whenever we see a pretzel shop, so making homemade soft pretzels was a no brainer for us!
Using pizza dough is the perfect way to keep this recipe simple without sacrificing any flavor. Plus, it is so easy to make any variety your family wants all in one batch. Each pretzel can be made with whichever toppings you would like! My personal favorite is everything but the bagel seasoning…YUM!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE AIR FRYER PRETZELS:
- 1 tube, pizza dough
- ¼ cup, baking soda
- Optional toppings: sea salt, cinnamon sugar, or “Everything But the Bagel” seasoning
- Optional dips: queso or mustard
HOW TO MAKE AIR FRYER PRETZELS:
- Lay pizza dough out on a cutting board or prepared work surface and slice into strips using pizza cutter. (See photo)
- Twist dough into pretzel shape and press ends into bottom pretzels to secure. Lay out on parchment paper-covered baking sheet or cutting board.
- Firm up in freezer for 1 hour. Do not skip this step, it’s important for the pretzels to keep their shape in the boiling water.
- Fill a large pan â…” full with water, heat to boiling.
- Carefully sprinkle in baking soda.
- Using a spatula (preferably slotted) add pretzels (4 at a time) to boiling water. Let them boil for about 3 minutes or until they puff up, but do not lose their shape.
- Remove pretzels from water and drain on a piece of aluminum foil or parchment paper, prepped with cooking spray.
- Repeat with all pretzel dough.
- Preheat air fryer to 400 degrees.
- Meanwhile, sprinkle desired topping onto pretzels.
- Spray bottom of air fryer basket with cooking spray. Add pretzels (about 4 at a time) to basket and cook for 5 minutes.
- Remove pretzels from air fryer, lay out to cool.
- Repeat with remaining pretzel dough.
- Serve immediately with queso or mustard and enjoy!
A shorter cooking time (3-4 minutes) will still cook the pretzels through, but will leave you with softer pretzels. If you like a little crunch on the outside then the full 5 minutes would be best.
This recipe is so easy to make ahead for a gathering or just a quick snack. Prepare the pretzels to the freezing stage, and then just leave them in the freezer. Once you want to eat them just move forward with the boiling, topping, and air frying!
handy tools to easily make these pretzels:
- air fryer – cook, crisp, dehydrate, clean easily
