The kids will love these fun peanut butter sandwich ideas that add a fresh, wholesome twist to lunchtime.
Peanut Butter and Banana Sandwich and MORE!
When I was a kid, I had a peanut butter sandwich for lunch every. single. day. So yes, my palate has developed quite a bit since then! However, when I see my kids turn their noses up at 90% of the food I suggest, I try to be patient. They get their picky tendencies straight from mom.
So, peanut butter sandwiches it is. But I love to add fresh ingredients to the plain ‘ol peanut butter sandwiches and make something new and tasty. And hopefully expose the kiddos to more foods they’ll learn to love.
I top the whole grain bread (or whatever your preference) with creamy peanut butter (chunky PB or even almond butter or sun butter would also work), and add fresh, whole food toppings to the sandwich.

Is a peanut butter sandwich good for you?
The typical peanut butter and jelly sandwich is made up of a couple of slices of white bread, a big blob of peanut butter and two or three spoonfuls of jelly. It’s maybe not the healthiest thing in the world to eat, but it’s really not all that bad. Peanut butter is a good source of monounsaturated fats and minerals.
What foods go well with peanut butter?
Apples, celery, saltines, chocolate, pretzels, bananas, jelly, and pancakes are all great parings I have tried!
