Pair this 3 Ingredient Easy Cheese Dip with everything from veggies to chips to pretzel bites for an over-the-top cheesy & flavorful appetizer. Cooks in 5 minutes in the instant pot!

    pretzel dip

This Cheddar Ale Dip is a favorite in my family. It’s creamy and cheesy, with a zip of flavor from the ale. To make it, you combine light beer, shredded sharp cheddar cheese, and cream cheese. You can use the crockpot or the instant pot! So easy.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE CHEDDAR ALE DIP:

    • 3 ounces light beer
    • 2 cups, shredded sharp cheddar cheese (must use SHARP for best flavor)
    • 8 oz, cream cheese
    • pretzel bites, tortilla chips, and/or veggies (for serving)

HOW TO MAKE CHEDDAR ALE DIP:

    1. Add cream cheese, beer, and cheddar cheese to instant pot.
    2. Heat for 2 minutes and follow instructions for quick release.
    3. Serve with pretzel bites and tortilla chips!

Just a few minutes in the pressure cooker gives you a yummy cheese dip that everyone loves, especially when served with pretzel bites. There’s just something about cheese dip and pretzels, am I right?!

Don’t worry, if the instant pot is not your thing you can totally make this in the crock pot. Check out those instructions listed below.

Whichever way you prepare it, once it is finished grab those pretzel bites and dig in! I usually serve it at a party with a variety of pretzel bites, tortilla chips and carrot sticks. That way everyone can enjoy the way they wish!

handy tools to make this pretzel dip so easy:

    • instant pot – 16 one touch programs, 6 quart, super quick and easy
    • crock pot – Timer, intelligent cooking, huge

This dip is so delicious as is, but if you love it as much as I do (and serve it all the time) you can jazz it up with things like horseradish, bacon, or scallions. Check out those in the notes section below!

What is queso made from? To make Mexican queso dip, you’ll need just 3 ingredients: white American cheese, green salsa and half and half.

Is queso and cheese dip the same thing? Queso is the Spanish word for cheese, and Americans use the term cheese dip for any variety of cheese that you dip.

What is the difference between queso blanco and queso fresco? While the names are often used interchangeably, there is a slight difference between the two terms. Queso fresco is made with rennet and queso blanco is made from milk that has been curdled with an acid like lemon juice or vinegar.
