Caramel Toffee Brownies
I love enhancing recipes. Brownie mix out of a box is totally amazing and acceptable (and I prefer it to homemade anyways), but sometimes I like to step it up a notch. Adding mix-ins to boxed desserts is such a great way to make “fancy” desserts that will wow anyone.
By adding caramel and toffee bits to your favorite brownie recipe this dessert will have everyone indulging and begging for the recipe. Do not feel silly telling them it’s a box! They will be so thankful to have a quick and easy recipe to wow their friends and family with.

Simply mix up your brownie batter according to the box that you chose. Pour half into a pan, drizzle your caramel over the pan, and then top with the remaining brownie batter.
Use a ziploc baggie, fill it with the caramel, and cut off the tip. This will allow you to squeeze the caramel onto the brownie batter with no mess!
It may be difficult to tell if the center of the brownies are set with the caramel mixed in, but just trust yourself to take a look. Gooey/firm, not raw/runny, is all you need.

Frequently Asked Questions
Should brownies be gooey in the middle? Yes, when you take them out of the oven, brownies will be a bit gooey in the middle. They will set as they cool.
What makes brownies more chewy? The addition of oil makes brownies more chewy, so use a recipe with oil if that is how you prefer them.
How can you tell if brownies are done without toothpicks? Find a knife with the thinnest blade and insert that near the center of the brownies. The batter should not stick to the knife when they are done.
