bacon wrapped dates with cream cheese
Love an easy appetizer? This is a classic crowd-pleaser with a yummy, sweet & smoky sauce for dipping.
Sweet, salty, crunchy and creamy, all in one appetizer. Just dates, cream cheese, and bacon! So much flavor.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED:
- ¼ cup cream cheese
- pinch of salt
- ½ lb bacon, sliced in the middle
- 12 dates (pitted if not already)
- For sauce (equal parts): BBQ sauce & maple syrup
RECIPE TIPS:
- These dates melt a bit in the oven (makes them extra yummy!) so be sure to prep a baking sheet with parchment paper or cooking spray for easy clean-up.
- Put the dates seam-side down on the baking sheet to start & be sure to flip dates halfway through cooking time.
- You can add as much or as little cream cheese as you like!
- Don’t forget the toothpicks for wrapping the dates.
- Try adding different toppings, like chopped nuts to the cream cheese or sprinkling the bacon-wrapped dates with spices
- Buy the fresh dates from the produce section, if possible. The packaged ones from the shelf-stable section can be too dried out for this recipe
HELPFUL TOOLS:
Ninja Kitchen System (blender, food processor, etc)— I use this on the daily
“Spatty” skinny spatulas– for getting every bit of cream cheese out of the food processor
FAQ’S:
How do you reheat bacon wrapped dates?
Just pop them in the microwave for a minute or until warm to the touch.
How do you pit dates?
Use a small knife to slice midway down lengthwise into the date. You should hit the pit. Pull open the sides of the date and remove pit.
How long are dates good for?
At room temperature, they can last between a month to 3 months. If kept in the fridge, they are good for between 6 and 12 months. For longer storage, freeze the dates. Note: softer dates will turn faster than more dried dates.
