A surprisingly simple, decadent dessert with just 2 ingredients! Use pizza dough and Nutella for a show-stopping dessert that takes just minutes to prep.
nutella bread
I feel like this recipe needs a disclaimer: NOT hard to make. Do not need to be baker. No yeast involved.
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE THIS NUTELLA BRAIDED BREAD:
- ยฝ cup of Nutella
- 1 package, ready-made pizza dough
HOW TO MAKE BRAIDED BREAD WITH NUTELLA:
- Preheat oven according to temperature on pizza dough package.
- Unroll pizza dough out onto parchment paper-lined baking sheet. If dough is in a circle shape, slice off sides and top to make a rectangle or square shape.
- Spread thin layer of Nutella onto dough (leaving a little space around the edges).
- Roll up dough into log. (see photos)
- Cut log in half, lengthwise, then separate halves. Tip! Start cutting about an inch from the top, cut all the way down, start to twist the bread, and then cut and twist the remaining top inch of dough. Much easier to manage.
- Bake braid according to pizza dough instructions.
- Allow to cool, slice in pieces, and enjoy!
But really, it’s one of the easiest (and tastiest) desserts EVER. Two ingredients: pizza dough and Nutella.
Use ready-made pizza dough and your family can enjoy a tasty dessert in minutes. And no one will notice the shortcuts.
Try not to stretch the dough too much when you are braiding it, or you will end up with an extremely long dessert. Keeping the one end together while braiding will help with this.
handy tools to easily make any braided bread with filling:
- sheet pan – best non-stick, good size for all baking
- serrated knife – slice things without crushing them, sharp, dishwasher safe

Curious if you pre-baked the pizza dough before you spread the Nocciolata on it? It’s not written in your recipe, but it is written to pre-bake on the pizza dough package. I just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly. Thanks!
Alison L says
Good question! I did not, I think it would make the pizza dough harder to get into the right shape. I just rolled it right out of the package.

I support shortcuts! Also, letting things go can be the right thing to do. (Anyone singing “Frozen” songs yet?) Lovely thoughts and you just gave me a really great idea for my own Nutella short cut. Many thanks.

The recipe looks delicious and I loved reading this post. Hahaha, if you have an infant, and you don’t have a spot somewhere on your shirt, I immediately question it. ๐ LOL! Thanks so much for linking up to Found & Foraged…I hope you’ll come again. xo, Laura
Elle @ Only Taste Matters says
This does not look like you took any shortcuts! Brilliant!
Carrie says
I’ll be honest, I’m not sure which sounds better, the lovely dessert or the post! ๐ I am however on the way to the store and the dough is now on my list…..as I think of all the other things you could spread and do the same. I know my son won’t remember whether or not the house was clean, but he will remember Mommy playing with him (and let’s face it, he’s already almost bigger than me) – so, you aren’t the only one choosing to ‘work’ at worrying less and I say yay us! ๐
Alison says
Aw, thanks for the sweet note, Carrie! The braid method could work for so many things! Hope you and your family enjoy the treat!

I will try this when I buy hazelnut spread this weekend. Also will buy a small container of almond paste and a bag of chopped almonds. For I love almond croissants so this sounds like it could be the next best – however I might just get the Pillsbury Croissant sheets and use that instead. There are so many combinations that it takes my breath away – now that I have your quick secret. Thanks!

Sounds delicious! Thanks Patricia.
