Refrigerated Biscuit Dough Recipe
Love pretzels? Love Everything But the Bagel seasoning? Then I’ve got just the recipe for you!
These Pretzel rolls are made with biscuit dough, for a super simple, flavorful biscuit that you’ll love as a side for meals or even on its own. Just a pat of butter and it’s perfect!
INGREDIENTS NEEDED TO MAKE PRETZEL BISCUITS:
1-8 count can Pillsbury Grands Southern Homestyle Biscuits (not flaky)
4 cups water
4 tablespoons baking soda*
2 tablespoons butter melted
â…›-1/4 cup, Everything But the Bagel Seasoning (to taste)
HOW TO MAKE PRETZEL BISCUITS:
- Preheat oven to 350.
- Roll out biscuits into long, tube shape, twist into pretzels. Press ends to bottom of pretzel to emphasize shape.
- Place in freezer for 1-2 hours– do not skip this step. Biscuits must be frozen to keep shape while boiling.
- Add half of baking soda to pan with boiling water. Careful, baking soda causes water to bubble up a bit.
- Add pretzels, a few at a time, and boil until they puff up. Do not flip over, pretzels will lose their shape.
- Remove pretzels from water with slotted spoon and place on parchment paper to drain a bit.
- *Note: add remainder of baking soda halfway through process, to keep a good ratio of baking soda to water.
- Once all pretzels have been boiled, move them to a baking sheet covered with a fresh piece of parchment paper.
- Brush melted butter over top and side of pretzels. Liberally sprinkle on seasoning.
- Bake until golden brown on top and sides.
Tips for perfect Pretzel Biscuits!
- Do not skip the step of freezing the pretzels for an hour. This helps the pretzels keep their shape during the boiling process.
- Add half the baking soda at the beginning of the boiling, and the rest for the second half of the pretzels. This ensures enough baking soda for all.
- Really coat the entire pretzel in melted butter, that gives it the brown, pretzel color and flavor.
Everything But the Bagel Seasoning adds just the right amount of flavor. Or skip it if you’ve got picky eaters. My kids love these rolls. You could also try sea salt, garlic salt, or even cinnamon sugar for a sweet treat.
handy tools to easily make these pretzel biscuits:
